Even then, its good for light playing & I would not run it 7+hrs at a time. You can put the best thermal paste & pads in the market on it, it will red light eventually still. The cooling design is really bad. The slim is the best of the ps3 revisions. The super slim is ok, I would pick a slim over it. Forgot the exact model but I got a super slim.
Modded slim ps3 is great too, it also gets hot but not enough to shut down, I think the mods raise the shutdown parameters as long as the fan is spinning at higher rpm to compensate for heat. But playing GT4 even after getting a modded version of GT4 (to play on ps3 slim) it still sucks, just a better experience on ps2.It included Call of Duty Black Ops, the 160 gb PS3 console, 1 wireless controller, and a $50 Best Buy Gift card. I also purchased a 32" Samsung Lcd tv and the ps3 looks amazing on it. My tv is 720p but most games display in 1080i.
