One of the things that really got me into GW2 was the fashion. I'm really interested in some of the elite spec's special armor skins (well, all of them except berserker). To waste as little of my time as possible, I was wondering the fastest way to acquire the necessary hundreds of HPs to max the an elite spec. Go into jungle > do hero points.
You need 30 hero points to unlock an Elite spec, so not too hard, you just need to do 3 hero challenges in Hot/PoF. As you said the only benefit to leveling up from scratch is learning the class at a slower pace, there aren't any achievements tied to it. You do lose out on the incremental level up rewards, but those aren't that great to begin with, and the stuff you get in the lvl 80 boost is way
Game Discussion. Guild Wars 2 Discussion. They are selling hero points in the gem store now. I don't know how to feel about this So now apparently you can buy an item that allows you to complete a hero challenge in any expansion. Pay some money, skip the hero challenge and get the points. Plus bonus, makes map completion easier cause you don
And when there is a new expansion, the happy traders will be the first ones to ask for a refund, because they cannot instant-unlock the new elite-specializations. About the 2nd idea: To unlock an elite-specialization we need 250 Hero Points. That would be 250 spirit shards.
the leveling process is slow, you could use the level 80 boost and go get skill points I mean unless you want to use the base class to level but the base class is a different playstyle then the elite ones anyway, but it's your choice to play how you want The base class can be fun before 80, it's just different, and before the level 80
The hero points in core Tyria only give one point. In HoT you get 10 points as well, but the hero challenges are harder and sometimes even require a group.I bought both when I returned as a player since my archer was only like lvl 15. Got him up to 80 now with the boost. I have one more boost left.
There are 202 hero challenges right now, and there will be more in the new Heart of Thorns zones. It will only take 60 points to unlock the traits for the elite specialization, and assuming it gives 1 healing / 3 utility / 1 elite skill of the new skill type, it will take 2 + 3 + 4 + 4 + 9 = 22 points to unlock the skills.
