Djackson527. 1 post · Joined 2015. #16 · Jul 27, 2015. 330Ci with SMG. I bought my '04 BMW SMG about 5 months ago. It's now at 120k miles. Of those miles I've racked up around 20k. I should start by saying I rushed into the internet purchase of my vehicle without much research at all, other than the cosmetic appeal.

The new BMW E46 convertible range is great but go for the 330 Ci sports model as it is a far better drive and has much better spec, having the extras of 18" MV spoke alloys, 'M' handling pack, M Aero dynamic kit and sports seats. A much better car than a Merc CLK 320 which is dearer too. I recommend H&R Comfort kit suspension package. It is very comfortable and good to drive. It drops -35mm front and -10mm rear. Weird. If that is true, that means that the stock suspension settles a lot (~0.69") over time. Here is my stock sport suspension before I dropped it measured from center of center cap to fender (I feel that is a better method of measuring since people have different size wheels). 23.19" ride height of the front would translate to 14.69

You had a choice of 6-speed (3 pedals) manual, 5-speed auto (Steptronic), or "SMG" (SSG), which is a 6-speed manual with an automated clutch. The SMG/SSG should not be considered "an automatic". Don't forget that pre-2004 3-pedal 330Ci only had a 5 speed. That's the only time there was a change from 5 to 6 speeds for the 330Ci.
